This book provides an insight to the customs, culture and life of ordinary Irish people during the period 1940 to 1970. Anecdotes and shenanigans of the customers of the author’s parents’ bar and grocery are refreshing in today’s technology age.The author’s encounters at a Jesuit boarding school in Limerick and later with fellow immigrants in England are enlightening. His challenges to find accommodation and jobs in a culture where many notices declared that 'Irish or Coloured' need not apply, and his hopes, prayers and struggles to obtain a university degree are interesting.
