Reckless is a cute story with a myriad of tropes. Brothers best friend. Marriage of convenience. Friends to lovers. Accidental pregnancy. And then the not so pleasant one… miscommunication.Izzy and Jude have known each other for maybe twenty years. She tagged along so much with her brother and his band of friends, they became her friends, too. At one point, teenage Izzy realized she was in love with Jude. He gave her her first kiss at 16 and then bailed, making her believe that he chose her brother over her, an insecurity she has dealt with her entire life.Now at 27 and 30, she has never stopped loving Jude. Imagine her happy inner teenage self giddy with excitement when Jude proposes but then reality slapping her in the face when her adult self thinks it’s just a joke - then be told it’s for an ulterior motive and he needs a wife.Their relationship has a rocky and unconventional start, especially when Jude realizes he’s loved Izzy for a long time, but then doesn’t go about telling her so in the right way.There’s some miscommunication between the two of them, but I think leaning more towards Jude’s side as the story progresses. In the midst of fighting for custody for Jude’s half brother and Izzy’s pregnancy, their relationship screeches to a halt. It takes some work - and intervention from their friends - to get Jude to truly realize he needs to put Izzy first.This is book 3 in the series, but each book is a true standalone and can be read on its own.
