Shadow Wing Quest is the first volume of a coming-of-age trilogy.
Iona is the eldest daughter of Queen Alecia Zialni and suspects she might have a latent form. As a shapeshifting Defender, like her father, Iona can become the bear or the hawk. Although very strong in Defender magic, Iona is sure she has a latent winged form.
She turns her back on expectations she will be the next queen and escapes to search for her true essence. With her, she takes a group of young nobles, eager to aid her quest.
This is an epic adventure of found family and the search for truth.
