Brianna Wight fakes her ow murder to escape her abusive husband and flees to St. Louis. There she hires a guide, Columbus Nigh, to take her to Independence, MO. so she can join a wagon train to Oregon. When the wagon master refused to let a single woman travel with them, she convinces Columbus to accompany her posing as her brother. But soon, they develop feelings for each other that are nothing any brother or sister should feel. And meanwhile, Brianna's husband is hot on her trail, bent on murder.
