There was a time when money took the form of coins made of precious metals. Then paper banknotes, backed by gold, took their place. Before long, clever people discovered that gold wasn't needed and entries on bits of paper in banking ledgers would suffice. The advent of computing made paper ledgers redundant and money was elevated to the status of binary bits in cyberspace. Harvey Bromley got himself in a bit of a mess when working on the computers of a major international banking corporation. His problems grew and he was forced to call on the services of his twenty-two-year-old daughter, Kate, to help him escape from the dangerous world he had entered.
