Amidst the backdrop of Martian landscapes, themes of identity and belonging come to the forefront. The relationships that blossom in this alien environment reveal the fragility and strength of love, particularly in its many forms. This queerness adds an enriching layer to the narrative, shining a light on the quest for acceptance and community in the face of adversity and isolation.
Pulley's masterful prose enhances the vibrant world she creates, drawing readers into the diverse experiences of her characters. Each encounter serves to not only propel the story forward but also to challenge societal norms and stereotypes. This rich exploration of human emotion against the vastness of the cosmos invites readers to ponder what it truly means to belong.
As the tale unfolds, the protagonist embarks on a journey of self-discovery while navigating the complexities of existing in a world that feels both familiar and alien. It is a thought-provoking tale that seamlessly blends elements of sci-fi with poignant reflections on love, identity, and the enduring search for home.

Visualizza tuttoI loved this book so much. First off, any fiction book that has footnotes is incredible, I love those little world building details so very much. I laughed, out loud, so many times while reading. I fell in love with the characters, with the writing style (so witty, so complex, so cool), and I have a new favorite phrase "projectile autism", which was said as a slur but feels like a badge of pride when I think of all the amazing moments I learned cool new facts. River Gale is the fictional love of my life. Read this book. Fall in love the way I did. It's just so amazing.
