In a western seaport town where the whispers of the sea blend with the pulse of the news, a wire service operates on the fringes of reality. The atmosphere is thick with tension as the night unfolds, revealing secrets lurking beneath the surface. As the hours pass, the characters navigate the unsettling blend of truth and deception, all while grappling with their own demons.

H. F. Arnold crafts a narrative that delves deep into the complexities of human nature, exploring how the lure of power and the quest for sanity can lead individuals down treacherous paths. As the protagonist wrestles with their role in this dark world, a gripping sense of dread builds, pulling readers further into a labyrinth of intrigue.

Through vivid imagery and a haunting atmosphere, Arnold invites readers to experience the claustrophobic weight of each revelation, transforming a simple wire service into a stage for existential drama. The lines between reality and illusion blur, leaving a lingering sense of unease long after the final page is turned.

Unsettling in the best way possible. For me, a story that can involve the technology of its day with the gloomy realm of horror without sounding false or ridiculous is excellent. This one does just that with the titular night wire. It builds its terror slowly, sowing the seed of unease which eventually culminates in ... ah but you'll have to read it yourself!
