This intriguing first novel tells how Daniel , a bright, outgoing, intelligent ten year old from a comfortable background is transformed by circumstances and events into a sad recluse. And all because of an imaginary friend that he cannot rid himself of. That, at least, is what it seems. Under the care of his family and caring professionals, Daniel is taken on a mystery journey of discovery. But will he be transformed? Are some conditions beyond even the best intentions of caring and medical professionals? The novel is set in the North-East of England, in the contemporary world, with flashbacks to 1927, and the author clearly knows and understands this world. But in the story of Daniel Lambert there are wider and more general implications.
