Descrizione

In a world that mirrors reality yet diverges sharply in its dynamics, a young Nigerian boy revels in the privileges of wealth while a small group of women discovers an extraordinary strength within themselves. This newfound power, shocking and transformative, ripples through society, altering the balance of gender dynamics and societal hierarchies. As the narrative unfolds, both personal and collective experiences highlight the complexities of power—its origins, manifestations, and consequences.

Through vivid storytelling, the characters navigate a shifting landscape where traditional roles are challenged and redefined. They confront not just external opposition but also the internal struggles that accompany their transformation. This exploration leads them to question the very nature of power and its impact on human relationships and identity, enticing readers to reflect on their understanding of authority and control.

Amidst moments of triumph and turmoil, the interconnected lives of these characters reveal a deeper commentary on society's constructs. The story invites a profound examination of how power dynamics shape not only individual destinies but also the world at large, making it a gripping, thought-provoking read that resonates with contemporary issues.

Qué decepción. Lo hubiera dejado pero le tenía fe, no me aportó nada. Muy confuso, no me involucre con ningún personaje, me interesaba 0 la parte política.

SpoilerI re-listened to the audiobook recently, after first finishing the book last year. It still packs a punch. It's an uncomfortable read/listen but done well - what if women had a means of defending themselves that men don't (bar a very small number). It portrays a world where women take on the aggressive gender role assigned to men, abuse and relish in it. It explores the struggle between men and women to stay "on top".I think the people who think feminism is about man-hating would be terrified of this book. To me, it was an enjoyable fiction because I *know* feminism is about equality and fairness, not harming others. It may be seen as a feminist novel, but I disagree because the characters are all cis - on one hand it's a pity there aren't LGBT characters but there are many aggressive acts portrayed so I'm glad in a way that hasn't been explored.
