I wanna rate this book higher than 3⭐️, but i feel it would have benefited from seeing it from a woman’s perspective instead of these boys at the same time i think that’s what make the tone of the book so unique and why it confuses some. As a woman it’s easier for us to understand why the girls did what they did even if we don’t get a clear say as to why. Thou i wish we did get one of the girls POV.If i have to describe this book I would have to call it the male gaze. Though I lowkey feel like this is what the author was going for. The girls remind me of this poem called Caged Butterfly by Ashley Sharmane.L, there parents treated them like they were just to be locked up with no means of spreading their wings, never finding themselves, never truly living. And the guys felt like the lived in the reality that the the girls parents created. It felt almost like the guys were objectifying the girls even in death, almost like they made the girls’ deaths all about themselves.“Those girls didn’t want to die, they just wanted out of that house.” - that is the better representation of the situation. Also Tripp THEY CAN NEVERRRR MAKE ME LIKE YOU.

Technically, I didn't finish only the last 3 pages, but, since I really wanted to drop the book multiple times, I classified it as a dnf book. Big words abundant. I guess you could call it deep, but really, what was the point of it? The movie was definitely better, but not by much.
