It all begins with a fugitive billionaire and the promise of a cash reward.
Turtles All the Way Down is about lifelong friendship, the intimacy of an unexpected reunion, Star Wars fan fiction, and tuatara. But at its heart is Aza Holmes, a young woman navigating daily existence within the ever-tightening spiral of her own thoughts.
In his long-awaited return, John Green shares Aza’s story with shattering, unflinching clarity.

Visualizza tutto2 starsSir, you don't understand. It's turtles all the way down.Did I love this book? No. Did I hate this book. No. This book was mediocre at best. It follows a 16 year old girl, Aza who suffers from OCD, whilst also having to invesitage the disappearance of a billionaire with her best friend. Pros○ I really enjoyed the OCD represntation / mental illness representation. I enjoyed reading this aspect through the point of view of Aza. ○ I enjoyed the bits and piece of the relationship between Davis and Aza. Cons○ The plot..... What even was the plot. I got so lost. The plot was so boring and uneventful. The ending of the plot was one of the worst. I have never been so angry. ○ "HOLMESY." That nickname got so annoying ○ Although I did like some bits of Davis and Aza's relationship, some parts they sounded like old people talking instead of 16 year olds talking. ○ Aza's mum is written in such a cliched way Overall, I was actually quite disappointed with the book. Yes, it was well-written (also quite pretentious as always) and the aspect of mental illness shone through, but the overall basis of the plot wasn't even there. I was so excited to read this book as there were so many reviews praising this book, but I was let down. I do believe that there are other people who will enjoy this book, but I am the minority who didn't.
Ik had er meer van verwacht. Het voelde alsof ik een soort subplot aan het lezen was en het mainplot niet zag. Greens schrijfstijl is super smooth, maar het verhaal miste iets voor mijn gevoel.
