André Kuipers

André Kuipers is a Dutch astronaut and physician who has made significant contributions to space exploration. He was born in Amsterdam and pursued a career that combined his interests in medicine and space travel. Kuipers studied medicine at the University of Amsterdam and later became a flight surgeon for the European Space Agency (ESA). In 2004, he was selected as an astronaut and has since participated in two missions to the International Space Station (ISS). His first mission, DELTA, took place in 2004, and his second, PromISSe, occurred in 2011, where he spent over 200 days in space conducting scientific research and experiments.

Throughout his career, Kuipers has been an advocate for science education and public engagement in space exploration. He has authored several books aimed at inspiring young people to pursue careers in science and technology, sharing his experiences and the wonders of space travel.
