Dark, really dark. This story is just darkness and sadness with no hope in sight. Mac Cathy writing style is very particular, so simple that it becomes difficult to read sometimes. I don't appreciate his writing style so much but it works well with the story. The book in itself is a work of art, it's just a little too dark and crude for my taste.
