Arusha

Arusha is Tanzania's safari capital, located midway between Cape Town in South African and Cairo in Egypt, the town straddles the Great North road connecting the two cities and it lies 37 km west of Kilimanjaro International Airport (KIA). The town is also the geographical center of east African and it contains the headquarters of the East African community (EAC), a body revised by Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda. In addition, it hosts various international, non-government and government organisations such as Tanzania National Parks. About 70 present of visitors still arrive in Arusha via Nairobi. But this figure is likely to change with 13-scheduled European intercontinental flights (instead of five) due to begin landing at KIA from late May 2001.
