Black Noise

"Black noise" is an acoustical term for a nearly inaudible frequency. It is a fitting title for this tribute to the respected New York painter and musician Steven Parrino, who died in a motorcycle accident on New Year's Day, 2005, at the age of 46. This box set of 32 publications contains custom projects by some of the most innovative artists working Rich Aldrich, John M. Armleder, Fia Backström, Sophie Bernhard, Peter Coffin, Philippe Decrauzat, Vidya Gastaldon & Fabrice Stroun, Gabrielle Giattino & Sara Turner, Janine Gordon, Kim Gordon, Amy Granat, Drew Heitzler & Flora Wiegman, Jutta Koether, Alix Lambert, Balthazar Lovay, Brendan Majewski, Christian Marclay, Mass, John Miller, Thurston Moore, Olivier Mosset, Chuck Nanney, Genesis P-Orridge, Mai-Thu Perret, Carissa Rodriguez, Aura Rosenberg, Michael Scott, John Terhorst, Blair Thurman, John Tremblay, Elizabeth Valdez and Joan Wallace. Each artist was closely linked with Parrino in some way, through collaboration, exchange, friendship or reciprocal inspiration.
