3.5This book has been marketed as a middle eastern fantasy book. So naturally, I went into this thinking that that would be it. But this book is basically 80% Western culture mixed with 20% negative middle eastern stereotypes. I liked the story, but reading this I was continuously bothered by the misrepresentationof arabs/middle eastern culture. IT WAS SO FRUSTRATING 😭Like the rest of the story was quite interesting. I loved the rebellion storyline, I loved the friend group. I loved Jin, Shazad, Ahmed and Bahi. Shazad is such a baddie!! And Jin is an amazing character. Bahi was literally the funniest. I didn't like Amani at first and het developmen happened so fast i was honestly confused how she had changed so fast. The last 100+ pages i started to love her tho! So even Amani turned out to be a baddie nearing the end. But I was so bothered by the misrepresentation that I couldn't fully love it:((
