Finding the Runaway

Hunter Winfield, a confederate soldier, was running from his past. After watching his wife die and his way of life disintegrate, he decides to move his family to a secluded town in Oregon. His plans are upended, almost immediately, when a mysterious woman befriends his child and then lies to the town deputy, claiming to be his housekeeper.

Lilian Alderman is a Yankee who has never worked a day in her life. Unfortunately, when she left her powerful fiancé at the altar, her life changed. Running from home and managing to escape notice leaves her penniless and desperate. In the Oregon town of Spruce Hill, she sees her chance to manipulate a single father into taking her in. The struggles of domestic life, however, might just be enough to make her question her choices.

Hunter is now stuck with the world’s worst housekeeper, but his child adores her. If he can convince himself to trust this woman he thinks is a southern bell, can he keep from losing his heart? And if he can, what will happen when he finds out she’s been lying to him about more than just her occupation?
