Sydney Shaw, like every single woman in New York, has terrible luck with dating. She’s seen it all: men who lie in their dating profile, men who stick her with the dinner bill, and worst of all, men who can't shut up about their mothers. But finally, she hits the jackpot.
Her new boyfriend is utterly perfect. He's charming, handsome, and works as a doctor at a local hospital. Sydney is swept off her feet.
Then the brutal murder of a young woman―the latest in a string of deaths across the coast―confounds police. The primary suspect? A mystery man who dates his victims before he kills them.
Sydney should feel safe. After all, she is dating the guy of her dreams. But she can’t shake her own suspicions that the perfect man may not be as perfect as he seems. Because someone is watching her every move, and if she doesn’t get to the truth, she’ll be the killer’s next victim...
A dark story about obsession and the things we’ll do for love, #1 New York Times bestselling author Freida McFadden proves that crimes of passion are often the bloodiest…

すべて表示I'm sorry but this was one of the most annoyingly dumb characters I've ever read. I couldn't stomach it, I was just angry or stressed the whole time, finally had to DNF it.
It got 2 stars instead of 1, because I think it could have been a great book if the main character wasn't so stupid. Or if the reader was told she had a proper disability, so that the situation with the abuse becomes more sad and sinister, rather than stressful and anxiety inducing.
Scene: Described well, I enjoyed the setting and it was well worded but not too over complicated. A handful of places put simply, so we can concentrate on the story and characters. Standard Freida. ****
Characters: Unreliable, messy, complicated and so real. I love the different narratives, this is so realistic. *****
Story: Being gaslit by Freida McFadden might be my new favourite pass time. *****
Recommend?: Yes, Freida all day!
This ended up being the worst Freida book I’ve read so far. Did the story move along in a somewhat satisfying way? Yeah. But the endings, the final reveal… just awful. There’s no way for me to complain about this book without spoiling it, but honestly, it’s terrible.
