Piercing the Sky

In 1984, Allison James spent the summer hiking through the backwoods of the Colorado Mountains with a friend. Piercing the Sky is Allison James’ courageous exploration of her own self-imposed limitations. Her story takes the reader on a path that transcends the summer hike. Through astute observation, Allison shows us, by example, how to be honest about who we are and who we are not. Allison provides us with the map we need to navigate our own rough terrain with wisdom and grace.

Piercing the Sky shows us, through vivid imagery and honest self-examination, that we can all find our own perfection by first examining our own imperfection with a kind and compassionate heart. If we open to the experience, we each can discover our own very personal path to a place where the heavens open for us, and deliver the richness of life we have been pushing away. When we arrive at that place, we will discover the true meaning of Piercing the Sky.
