Pulling Together

Tom Adams had just been discharged from the Army after serving his country in the Persian Gulf War. Prior to entering a new career he spends the summer with his grandparents on their family farm. Through his grandparents he learns to love and respect the land. For the first time Tom becomes aware that his aging grandfather is very concerned that there will be no one in the family to carry on the over 100 year ownership and operation of the family farm. That summer Tom not only learns about farming, but assists the FBI in breaking up a livestock and farm equipment theft ring and becomes fascinated by draft horse pulling contests. Tom is successful in convincing his reluctant granfather to help a neighboring family solve their financial problems by making a team of he Belgian geldings available for training to pull the concrete block laden sleds in draft horse pulling contests. Tom finds that romance can blossom while going to pulling contests and training the draft horses. Tom's proudest accomplishment for the summer is when he reunites his own father with his grandfather. Tom's father fled to Canada when he was drafted by the Army for the Viet Nam War. The elder Adams has not found it in his heart to forgive his son for not serving his country. Tom's summer has a happy ending when everyone is "PULLING TOGETHER."
