On a secluded island off the coast of Florida lies the Haven Institute, an enigmatic place shrouded in mystery and intrigue. Lyra, a young girl grappling with her identity, finds herself in this isolated world, where cutting-edge science meets the shadows of ethical dilemmas. The allure of the island hides darker secrets that question the very fabric of humanity.

As Lyra navigates her existence within the institute’s confines, she discovers more than just advanced technology. The lines between reality and artificiality blur, pushing her to confront what it truly means to be human. Bonding with others in the institute, Lyra grapples with feelings of love, loss, and the quest for belonging—universal themes that resonate amidst the backdrop of a world challenging genetic boundaries.

With each revelation, the tension escalates, compelling Lyra to make profound choices that will impact not only her fate but also that of those around her. She begins to unravel the hidden truths of her surroundings and the motives of those who run the institute.

In this gripping narrative, a beautifully crafted tale emerges, reflecting on the implications of cloning and the essence of individual identity, ultimately posing the question of what it means to truly live.

I really wanted to like this. The concept was very interesting. I was deeply disappointed. The suspension of disbelief that was required made my head ache. The characters were deeply unlikeable. Which isn't usually a problem for me. I really didn't care what happened to any of them. The fat shaming was somewhat unexpected after reading Lyra's perspective first. An overall unpleasant read/experience.
