説明

In a world where extraterrestrial beings blend seamlessly into human society, Dawson Black's life takes an unexpected turn when he crosses paths with Bethany Williams. She is not just any ordinary girl; her mere presence disrupts the delicate balance he has maintained as a Luxen among humans. Dawson, whose powers are both a gift and a burden, finds himself drawn to Bethany in ways he never anticipated.

As their connection deepens, Dawson is faced with the challenge of protecting her while navigating the complexities of his own identity. The dangers of revealing too much about his Luxen heritage loom overhead, threatening not only his secret but also the safety of those he cares about. Bethany, unsuspecting of the cosmic forces at play, becomes entangled in a world where danger lurks in the shadows, revealing hidden truths about loyalty, love, and sacrifice.

Together, they must confront not only external threats but also their inner demons, as the line between light and darkness begins to blur. With their lives intertwined, the stakes rise, leaving Dawson to wonder if he can shield Bethany from the very shadows he inhabits. The pulsating tension of their journey invites readers to explore themes of acceptance, bravery, and the transformative power of love in an extraordinary setting.

This addition to the Lux series reads like a fan fiction from someone vaguely familiar with JLA's world and writing. The story follows things we already knew and quickly jumps from point to point rather than the slow burn and careful development of the previous books. I felt disappointed at the climax after having wondered what happened to Bethany in the woods that day, because the incident invoked no emotion. It was just written to get it over with. I'm glad Bethany and Dawson were very different from Daemon and Katy, but unfortunately they were quite boring as the story was narrow and mainly focused on them being together and the alien family mad about it. No surprises there. I wish it were condensed into a quarter of the length and then have their perspective after being captured during the years before Katy moves to town. Oh well.
