Stef Driesen

This is a beautiful art book that presents a selection of 60 abstract paintings from the recent work (2008 - now) of Brussels-based artist Stef Driesen. Driesen brings forward an interest in a more ambient space, providing atmospheric presence in the work. The grayed palette he uses offers moments of bright color and light breaking through giving a sense of landscape and deep, almost transcendental, fields. The cascading compositions and canyonlike perspectives conjure the movement of waterfalls and, in some cases, is fractured by architectural references. Stef Driesen's work has been featured in several solo and group exhibitions all over the world and also in the collections of Marc Foxx, LA; Foundation Maeght, Saint-Paul-de-Vence; Saatchi collection; Dayton Art Institute; MADRe Museum, Naples; and Neuberger Museum of Art, Purchase. He is represented by Galerie G262 - Sofie Van de Velde (Antwerp) and by Marc Foxx Gallery (Los Angeles).
