すべて表示This is my first time reading anything by Brendan DuBois, although not my first James Patterson. When US Army Intelligence Officer Amy Cornwall arrives home, she's expecting the sounds of her 10 year old daughter and her husband to greet her. Instead, there's only silence and a burner phone left with a note. If Amy wants to see them again, she has 48 hrs to complete the tasks listed. We follow Amy as she urgently follows through on the tasks while trying to find out what she can about the people responsible, by any means necessary.I really enjoyed following Amy and devoured this in only a few sitting. As a parent and wife, I totally felt for Amy and cheered her on as she was pushed to the limits in her search. I liked that Amy was a fierce and no nonsense FMC, but that you also got to see a gentler side as she rescues a family from drowning, despite being near her cut-off time and not completed her first task. The storyline was believable, with drug cartels, secrets, and cover-ups.The family theme is explored not only through the kidnapping but also within both the cartels and the military. With one character who's spent their life wanting to belong before finally finding it on signing up.I enjoyed the action scenes, which were detailed but not as gory as some books in describing the aftermath.I'm really interested in seeing what happens in the next book in the series and hope to learn a little more detail in Amy's backstory.
