The Future King is Here: The Theology of Matthew

The title, "The Future King is Here" explains an important aspect of what this book is about. It shows that according to the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus the Messiah is actually the future coming Son of Man, who will determine the destiny of all humans at the final Day of Judgment. As that future figure (the Future King) he is now already "here". In Jesus the Messiah the future kingdom of God has appeared in advance.
This book is therefore part of a series of works on the kingdom of God as enacted, inaugurated eschatology. This view of Jesus is a new and fresh discovery that has only emerged recently in history. Once understood, our view of Jesus is changed and so many other things are also transformed: our view of God, of salvation, of the church, of the Christian life, and of Christian mission.
