The Time Wanderers

IN THE FAR FUTURE...
Mankind knows contentment until the Earth is besieged by a wave of unexplained phenomena. First come the mass phobias. Then, the creatures. Finally, the transformations.
Is this the work of the mysterious Wanderers? Could they be manipulating humanity - and to what end? When agent Toivo Glumov is sent to investigate, he's in for some superhuman surprises...
The principal characters are Maxim Kammerer and Toivo Glumov, both working for an organization which investigates "Unexplained Events" (UEs). Their investigation of a series of events leads them to believe that they are witnesses to a new action by some supecivilization of Wanderers on Earth.
But after much investigation, they discovered that it was not Wanderes, but a secret group of superhumans called the Ludens. The Ludens are born human, but possess latent powers far beyond those of normal humans. They view themselves as a distinct race, and claim to have "different interests" from humanity at large..
