The emperor’s dynasty maintains control of the Hansee Nation using political alliances between rival clans, his rule enforced with the coerced support of his warrior priests. Rebelling at the part his caste is forced to play in the emperor’s despotic reign Li Chin breaks the ancient covenant between his caste and the emperor. Now a pariah of his order Li Chin has no choice but to flee, crossing the Hansee Empire pursued by a vengeful emperor. His journey disrupts the lives of those he touches, triggering prophesy and leaving chaos in his wake. Amongst the upheaval Li Chin attracts the attention of shamans who name him fate’s tool, a harbinger of change. Sensing opportunity rival princes test the emperor’s strength, stoking the unrest to mask their own political intrigue. Clan alliances shift as they play The Great Game but unnoticed a new order rises to challenge the status quo. On the empire’s borders enemies gather, biding their time.
