Camillo Benso, Conte di Cavour, was a prominent Italian statesman and a leading figure in the unification of Italy during the 19th century. Born in Turin in 1810, he played a crucial role in the Risorgimento, the movement that ultimately led to the unification of various Italian states into a single nation. As the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Sardinia, Cavour was instrumental in diplomatic negotiations and military strategies that facilitated Italian unification, most notably through alliances with France and the defeat of Austria.
