This was fine? There were bits I absolutely loved, particularly the relationships between the characters, which continue to grow and change. I enjoyed Ibrahim and Ron being a bit more front and centre, and it was nice getting to peek a bit more into Chris and Donna's lives. My problem was really the plot, which I found pushed the envelope of believability just a touch too far. I love cosy mysteries and am no stranger to unlikely sleuths (one of my favourite series is about an ELEVEN YEAR OLD who solves murders), but this book really tested my patience. I also don't like Elizabeth, and that's probably an unpopular opinion, but she grated on me the most. She comes across as condescending, not clever. It was almost like he tried to write her like Sherlock Holmes, and he may have succeeded. It's just that Holmes is a bit of a dick, and so is she. And it again comes down to believability, and I just don't BELIEVE that she would have gotten away with *as much* as she does here. All that being said, it was a fun read, and has some really wonderful high points. 10/10 stars to Lesley Manville for her stellar narration.
