I never paid attention to the care packages that were passed around during my deployment until I was bored one day and finally opened the letter I’d found in mine. What I read changed my life. Something about the woman who wrote it called to my soul. I fell in love without ever seeing her face or hearing her voice. Her letter gave me hope on my darkest days after my plane crashed and I was sent home, a broken shell of the man I’d once been. Being home isn’t all bad though, not when it means I can finally track down Georgia. She has no idea who I am, and I don’t know if she’ll be able to accept me, scars and all. But seeing Georgia for the first time only reinforces what I already she is mine.
