edit: yeah this is a 3.75 not a 4 🤸🏼‍♀️want to start off by saying that i highly recommend reading rather than listening to this because i had to constantly rewind and relisten to parts and read a summary/analysis when i finished just to make sure nothing got by me.on that note this was ... a lot. not totally in a good way. i did end up enjoying this but holy i did not care for the first 400 pages. we get these new characters with literally no preamble, which is fine, but they simply weren’t interesting enough to fully hold my attention. i know i said i would recommend physically reading but if i hadn’t listened to the audio this would’ve taken me AGES to get through. even by the end i wasn’t totally sold on these new characters and povs. even darrow was just ... meh.i also have such an issue with the fact that a relatively major/important character’s death happens OFF PAGE and is sort of just brushed off after like two pages. like ... what? that’s it? we went through 3.5 books with them as, again, a relatively important characters – especially in the og trilogy - and that’s all they get? what? the way i’m not even fully convinced they’re dead because that cannot be the lackluster ending they get.but overall this was good! lowkey might lower to a 3.5 because after writing this a 4 feels a little too generous but we’ll revisit that in a few days. am def excited-slash-scared for dark age but right now am also wondering if maybe i should’ve called it the end after morning star 🫣

What a ride holy shit, it was a slow start, but damn loving the new characters, hated darrow a bit because he's hurting my boy sevro too much, i mean sevro's doing too much for him and its like he don't even care, i know he does but still, i just hope he mends he's relationship with sevro
