설명

The second part of the series from Diana Gabaldon that explores the power of a love which transcends space and time. For twenty years Claire Randall has kept her secrets. But now she is returning with her grown daughter to Scotland's majestic mist-shrouded hills. Here Claire plans to reveal a truth as stunning as the events that gave it birth: about the mystery of an ancient circle of standing stones, a love that transcends the boundaries of time, and James Fraser, a Scottish warrior whose gallantry once drew a young Claire from the security of her century to the dangers of his.

Now a legacy of blood and desire will test her beautiful copper-haired daughter, Brianna, as Claire's spellbinding journey of self-discovery continues in the intrigue-ridden Paris court of Charles Stuart, in a race to thwart a doomed Highlands uprising and in a desperate fight to save both the child and the man she loves.

2020 is apparently going to be the year of "...wait, what do you mean that's the end?!" for me. I will wait for my Audible credits to come in before buying the next one. It's only a few days. Please wish me luck in this. Unlike the first one, which felt like it started slowly, this started with some pretty intense feelings and honestly remained high through most of the book. If you liked the first one, this is a great follow-up. I liked that it roped me right back into the world, despite having read the first one a bit ago. It answers questions, it brings up new ones, it links back a ton of things from the first book in a very interesting way, and I have about a dozen things I want to look into historically. This jumps forward in time from the end of the first book, then back to fill in some gaps, and it honestly works really well. There's lots of politics, I laughed aloud, I'm very ready for the next one, and I am not sure why I waited so long to read this.

2.5 starsLord, ye gave me a rare woman, and God! I loved her well.I actually liked Dragonfly in Amber more than I did with Outlander. Although there were lots of questionable aspects in the book similar to Outlander, especially the rapey scenes. I really enjoyed the parts set in 1968, as Jamie wasn't there. Book Jamie annoys the hell out of me A LOT. What I did not like was the treatment of Fiona by Roger, he seemed really rude, but maybe it was just me. It's more of politcial plot than a romantic plot so it definitely was a slower storyline, but I didn't mind it. I'm glad that the show actually cut some of the problematic lines out as well.Next up, Voyager. I sort of have higher hopes with this because I'm really enjoying Season 3, but let's see how the book goes. I'll probably stop reading the series at Drums of Autumn because I want to know what happens in Season 4.

It took a month to read and listen to, but I finished it! After originally trying to read a few years ago, but stopped, probably due to the sheer width of this tiny book. I had actually meant to finally knock this off my tbr last year but hadn’t gotten to it. Regardless, I did enjoy the book, even though some chapters are so stinking long.I’ve watched season 2 of the show, so I could see it playing out as I read the book. Honestly, I think that helped with the enjoyment of this book. The length of some chapters and the amount of descriptions can get tedious at times. Despite the wordiness, it’s such a deep and complex storyline. Claire and Jamie have a timeless love story. I’m looking forward to finding out what comes next.
