JP and Me

This is the collected art and poetry of Jeremy Stewart (1969-1991) and Alex Christy (1972-2009) the two best friends any man could ask for, and a short introduction by Mark Dodge. Although Jeremy and Alex died young of various causes, they had a friendship that was truly unique and helped to inspire one of the greatest stories of diversity and acceptance written in our times, Freak the Mighty by Rodman Philbrick. While that fiction beautifully captured the essence of their magnificent friendship, the characters within it were never intended to represent the real lives of the men who inspired it. While they were both once lovable children quite similar to the characters in Philbrick's beloved novel, they grew up to be noble and thoughtful men, only to find out that the world did not have enough room or compassion for their childish ideals. Now for the first time their original poetry, short stories, and songs, along with the art and recollections of some of their closest friends is available for all who grew up inspired by their story of love and acceptance, in the hope that we can all remember that love and acceptance is not something that should be reserved just for children.
