I hate giving this rating to a debut author, I just genuinely didn't care about the book. It felt like it didn't know what it wanted to do.I think my problem was that I went into it thinking it was a thriller, when it wanted to be a dark-ish romance? That might be my mistake. The beginning was very strong and it made me instantly interested. But then it fizzled out to nothing. We don't see them trying to find the real murderer. We don't see them going to trial. We basically see them running all over the place, digging their hole deeper and regretting how things turned out. Which is not a problem, it should be part of the story, but it was 70% of the story.I saw the twist coming from the beginning, I was just hoping for an interesting explanation, which didn't come. I was just genuinely hopelessly bored for 70% of the book, waiting for an interesting reveal that didn't happen.
