Sinceramente, o livro é bom... mas eu achava que ia ter mais foco no romance, e outra que raiva, a protagonista fica em dúvida entre o ex e o príncipe gente?!!
Out of the kindness of my heart I will be giving this book 2 stars. The cover of the book is so damn pretty, but the inside... it's the most predictable storyline ever. This book is like watching a Bachelor season being unfolded. Did I like any of the characters??? Hmmm no not really. I just didn't think that this book was executed that well. Maxon is just so naive and America is just so indecisive. The entire love triangle thing between Aspen, America and Maxon just made me cringe. The whole time I while I was reading it I was like this:
OMG! OMG! I think romance books is the next best thing for me. I absolutely love this series and I am going to read the next book after I finished this review so it might be a quick one.I was team Maxon all along, I do hope she realises aspen is not the one and that he won't treat her right. America as a princess is exactly what I want to happen. ALSO, I DETESTE CELESTE and it rhymes as well. Anyway, got to start read bye!!
Ik vond het vroeger een prachtig boek, nu ben ik er iets minder fan van. Een aantal dingen waren onnodig en obvious, maar toch een leuk boek.
I loved it and can't wait to read book 2!I fell in love with the world almost automatically.
Me ha gustado mas de lo que me esperaba y el principe maxon es adorablee ♥
The Selection is such a fun and addictive read! Watching Maxon and America’s bond grow is one of my favourite parts—it always gives me butterflies. This is my third time reading the series, and it still makes me feel so giddy. 5 stars for all the feels!
So this book is finally getting a netflix show. I wonder if the casting going to be diverse since the author acts like she don't know if her characters are diverse...See I never told the story as a why I dnfed this and decided not to read the rest of the books like in 2015. I was reading it and was kind of digging it even if I thought America was kind of blah and the eye rolled at the potential love triangle but was wondering where there any the diversity since this supposed to have been dystopian America . Since it was pegged to be The Hunger Games meets The Bachelor in which hunger games do got some diversity in it.So I post this on my tumblr blog."As I try to read the Selection, I’m thinking to myself“Where’s the diversity in this book? Are there any minorities or everyone white?” In which the Author responded with."Q1: Yes. Q2: No.Unless America tells me certain descriptors about someone, I don’t know them, and occasionally it takes her a while to get to the point. Which is why homegirl needed three freakin books to make up her mind. Alas.Shalom is Jewish, America is half Jewish, Amberly is a Latina, Elise is Asian, Celeste is something… never got a full explanation on that. And there are probably LGBT peeps in the palace, but if they don’t tell America, she can’t tell me.Hope that helps a bit."There's the linkhttps://partylikeawordstar.tumblr.com/post/115121640120/tiny012-as-i-try-to-read-the-selection-imIn a sense the author is saying that they doesn't know because their character doesn't know but only gave the ones that they character interacted with as bread crumbs. If the author would have said “ Yes, There’s diversity in the book including couple of the girls selected but America didn’t interact with them” instead of saying “ I only know who America interact with and sees so.. I don’t know” I would be ok with it. It’s like the author hiding behind her character instead of giving some insight which is a cop out to me. It’s not like this is the first time some one question her about it since that’s been one of the main criticisms of the book. When I saw the official book trailer or people fanart or fancast with lack of diversity of course I’m going to question it. This is a dystopian book set in America aka the melting pot. I would love t to see different cultures even if they are in the background.Having two known characters that are “non white” is not being diverse at all. I really should have said “ where the black people or people are color at” but I wanted to be diplomatic about the issue. This is what the author said in a past interview. “I think if you force it, people can tell. It has to work organically. When I wrote the book, Amberly was Hispanic. She just was. There wasn’t a plot to put her that way. Elise had an Asian background. She just was. One of the things for one of the pilots was that they were changing people’s races just to include it—for shock value. That I’m not a big fan of. It has to be organic and natural—and honest to the way we live now. We’re all different colors, faiths, religions. I grew up in the south, my dad’s Puerto Rican, my mom’s white. I’m a halfie. I like to call myself off-white. I haven’t been pushed into the box, I haven’t had to experience a lot of racism. But it’s important to talk about it.“They didn’t even try to make it organic. If was organic people wouldn’t be questioning it because it would be there in plain site. To me it’s more force because they have two known characters “ to fill a quota” so nobody would say what they are really thinking about the book. It’s almost like “ well I have two characters that comes from different cultural backgrounds. I’m diverse!” So right there I decided to drop the book because I felt like her response was a cop out and also the fact it really did start to feel like Katniss, Gale and Peeta love triangle 2.0. I couldn’t after I got that answer from them which I didn’t expect at all. To me the author could have just said, “ Nope My book has no diversity in it because I’m only writing for the rich white kids that I associated with.' Also hearing some other things about this particular author as well.
