설명
In a world where tradition intertwines with fleeting moments of desire, a young girl named Chiyo transforms into the celebrated geisha Sayuri. Through her journey, she navigates the complexities of love, rivalry, and the rigid societal structures of Kyoto’s geisha districts. While her stunning beauty gains her attention, it is her resilience and cunning that truly define her path.
As she delves deeper into the intricate art of seduction and performance, Sayuri encounters powerful figures and haunting memories that shape her destiny. The narrative vividly captures the elegance and harsh realities of a time-honored culture, threading through the vibrant life of a woman destined for more than mere entertainment.
Golden’s lyrical prose immerses the reader in the lush, captivating world of geishas, painting a picture of both glamour and struggle. Sayuri's tale is a poignant exploration of identity, ambition, and the delicate dance between personal dreams and societal expectations.

It was heartbreaking and brilliant, and the characters were intense. The movie did not do it justice.

good book with very nice descriptive language, however not an entirely accurate representation of geisha and their ways, the author violated the privacy of a geisha who trusted him to keep her identity a secret and he inaccurately wrote about certain traditions
