Midnight Blue

This has been on my TBR for a while. The story sounded so interesting and I hadn't read any book with a musician as the main character before.I am a big fan of LJ Shen as a writer. Her style is very easy to read and she makes you feel for characters that most people would find extremely unlikeable and Alex Winslow is no exception to that.He is cocky, arrogant, reckless and filled with so much self loathing disguised as confidence.There were a few twists and turns in this book I didn't see coming. A few characters in this had me feeling so sorry for Alex. You could easily transplant his situation with regards to the music industry to any other industry that squeezes talent for profit and leaves the artist feeling used and without trust.I adored Indie from the start, she was broken but didn't let that stop her from doing something that would help her family massively. Even though I really felt for their situation I was immensely frustrated with Indie's brother, Craig, he seemed to use his grief as an excuse to be a dick when he should have been doing more to provide a more stable home for his own son like he had. So while I understand his anger towards Alex, he had no right acting like Indie's defender when he didn't do anything but rely on her despite her losing the same as he did.While I get why Indie was mad at Alex, there was no way to know that Fallon was lying. She put all the blame on one person and while he deserved some of it he didn't deserve it all. I am glad he took the time they were apart to make improvements of himself. He needed to do that anyway but sometimes a person needs someone to inspire that change and Indie has always been that for Alex.I would definitely recommend this book.

Questo romanzo è adatto ad un pubblico consapevole di quello che sta leggendo, perché in alcune scene il comportamento dei due protagonisti mi ha fatto storcere il muso e ho avuto l’impulso di abbandonare la lettura. Definire tossica l’inizio di questa relazione tra i due è fargli un complimento, non solo abbiamo una rockstar che ha fatto uso di alcool e droghe ed è sulla via della redenzione e che crede che tutto gli sia dovuto, ma abbiamo anche una protagonista molto accondiscendente con lui e che accetta anche le briciole pur di avere la sua attenzione.
