This was a captivating start to the Elder World Series. While Alora is quite prickly and rubbed me the wrong way to begin with, the entire journey of this book with her was intriguing. Darce has that hot, brooding MMC vibe. This is a definite slow burn romance that did get frustrating at times. This book blends the paranormal aspects with emotional depth and supernatural mystery very well. The journey for Alora is far from over and the cliff hanger will leave you a little annoyed but that’s what book 2 is for. Overall it was a slow and confusing start but then quickly comes together in the end.
