one point six one eight

one point six one eight is a long poem in two parts: ‘migration’, with 13 smaller poems, and ‘home’, with 8. The book title reflects the ratio of 13/8, or the golden ratio of 1.618, a proportion of beauty which occurs in nature.

It arose from a journey to the Serengeti in Tanzania, to see the migration of the wildebeests and eventually returns with the migrating egrets to Singapore. The book is a design innovation in itself – laid out in a circular concept, reflecting the lack of start and end points.
