Such a great read, main characters are awesome, as well as side characters. Action packed, slow burn spice, MMC jealousy.

the hype did not lie with this one!!! full review to come i hope but for now just know that these characters already have a special place in my heart n i’m so invested in where this story goes for all of them

Ok so far I am disappointed 😔 So much hype on this book and it's so drab 🫣 .Now I've read her dark romance MC series year's ago. Blood &Roses. The sex scenes in quicksilver seem like they could fit in that world totally... Minus the moving tattoos 😉.I've read some of Callie's other self published stuff, Loved Between Here and the Horizon. And the highschool bully romance series was also entertaining. I have enjoyed most of her contemporary stuff.I was really happy she'd gotten accepted by a publisher, and for fantasy (which is my preferred genre)And I will say that I haven't read anything fantasy from her before ( which she wrote under another pen name) l didn't read the self published version ofQuicksilver. I had seen a few low reviews before and thought 🤔 maybe it's the self published version? I decided to wait and see. But my life was too chaotic to read this book when it came out and I'm currently looking after my husband recovering from 2 surgeries and long term rehab, so when I Saw that Spotify had the audio book (I'm doing a 3 months free trial - which I won't continue because they don't let you finish a book in one go 😤, totally frustrating... Anyways back to the book)And I was enjoying it to start with... she started well... Badass scaling walls and fighting guards. But she becomes so whiny when she goes to the Fae realm. Then the actual world building... (Hunger games inspired segregation) (Fae realm... Especially the battle front reminds me of Mordor/ TLOTR )Now I know most fae fantasy is basically similar or has similar world inspired similarities BUT I'm sorry, the world building is so disappointing. Plus odd things, such as the food is so not fae like... Quiche 🙃 Lol.Oh and WTF WE EVEN HAVE A DOBBY INSPIRED SPRITE!)FMC Saeris Fane, she started ok but by the time you to know her...She's so annoying (and I'm listening 🎧 to the republished audio version 🧐.)Thankfully via my library... I'd be so disappointed if I had paid for this book.But it's like the author took her submissive FMC from blood and Roses and the FMC from that book too, and sprinkled ideas from her favorite fantasy worlds and popped out this 🫣.The sex scenes - 😔 maybe I'm getting too old, or I'm so bored with this type of stuff (as I said I've read her Dark romance stuff)But I am cringing when she's moaning about hating him but getting off on him squeezing her neck 🤔)Anyways I had finally gotten to an interesting part (the quicksilver shard's talking to her) ... And the quicksilver is the most interesting character in the book!Okay on with the rest of the plot ...The editor needs to take some blame too. I'm so disappointed,  I was constantly thinking that there were parts of the plot where it could have been written first as contemporary then switched to fantasy... One scene where it stood out was when Seris described arriving at a PUB then in the next scene it was described as a TAVERN ... Why was that not picked up???The name of certain characters .. OMG Wendy, naming a sword Simon 🤔.How can you have a villain called Malcolm 😂. A horse called Bill? Come on, the editor should have made sure every character has a fae name. Then being lazy and using krona as a currency 😔.Ok I could go on for hours...Overall I am disappointed. Will I read Brimstone... Yes as I've got it on hold at my library, thank goodness I didn't buy this book.
