설명

Never bargain with a reaper.

The city of Aravell is in peril, plagued by a deadly blackmist that kills all it touches, and reapers who roam the streets, stealing magic from innocent children in their thirst for power. Seventeen-year-old Viridia Solace has trained for years to hunt these reapers but their ranks keep growing, led by the man who murdered her parents: the Reaper Priest.

When the Priest's most loyal follower, Reeve Ashton, is captured, he offers Viri a chance to avenge her parents . . . for a price. She knows better than to bargain with a reaper, let alone this reaper, but his offer is too good to resist.

Soon she's breaking him out of prison, colluding with his crew of magic thieves, and following him deep into the blackmist forest in search of an ancient legend, all so they can stop the Reaper Priest’s plot to doom the city. Viri is staking her life on Reeve's plan, but how can she trust a silver-tongued criminal to keep his word? And how can she trust her own heart when a buried secret could shatter everything?

Full of relentless twists, enemies-to-lovers romance, found family, and high stakes action, Shadow Reaper is the start of a breathtaking new duology from international bestselling author Lynette Noni.

One of the best books I have ever read couldn’t put it down. Warning the end you will wonder if any of your relationships are true

♥ read: 7.7.26 ♥REVIEW & MORE → Moonstruck LibraryFirst, I haven’t been drawn to picking up much Young Adult novels these days, but after reading the synopsis for Shadow Reaper, my intrigue deepened more, and to be honest, I personally love a nice take on the whole Grim Reaper if it is done well. Granted, this did start out a bit slower than other Fantasy novel, but that is normal for a first book in a brand-new series. However, the amount of yearning that Lynette Noni threw into this book was so delicious and half the time I found myself immediately starting the next chapter instead of setting the book down and going to sleep when I read a bit of this at night, and that is exactly how you will grasp my full attention as someone who ADORES books with yearning between the two main characters.Second, I am definitely that type of reader who will focus on the writing style as well (well, depends on the book I choose to pick up), and of course this is labeled as a YA novel, so the writing style will be different compared to all of the books I normally read nowadays, although, I actually loved the author’s writing plus the descriptive scenes were very well written and I appreciated that.Lastly, Shadow Reaper is obviously labeled as a Romantasy, but since this is a first book in a series (not sure how many books we will get in the future), I feel like the romance was barely there, but there was a heavy amount of yearning, so I am pretty sure we will see that yearning blossom to some type of romance in the sequel at some point.Overall, I am so thankful to the publisher for giving me an ARC via Netgalley, even though it did take me awhile to finish this due to my personal life getting a bit busier than normal (that will always come first when it is important), but I still had a fun time reading Shadow Reaper and look forward to more of this world.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Shadow Reaper has been one of my most anticipated reads ever since it was announced, and it absolutely lived up to every expectation.I’ve been a huge fan of Lynette Noni’s work since reading The Prison Healer series, which remains one of my all-time favorites, and this book only solidified my love for her writing. Shadow Reaper opens with rich world-building and a dark, atmospheric setting filled with hunters and reapers. Our main character, Viri, is one of the hunters whose mission is to protect those vulnerable to the reapers—especially children.Viri is brave, fiercely protective, and incredibly easy to root for. The found family aspects are woven throughout the story, which is one of my favorite tropes. Then there’s Reeve—mysterious, sarcastic, morally gray, and carrying a deep past connection to Viri. I’m a huge sucker for second chances, witty banter, enemies-to-lovers tension, and a darker, grittier atmosphere, so this YA romantasy was packed with some of my favorite elements. And of course, it ends on a massive cliffhanger.I was completely blindsided by the plot twists. I thought I had everything figured out, only to realize I had been thoroughly deceived—and I loved every second of it.If you’ve enjoyed Lynette Noni’s other works or love YA romantasy filled with mystery, romance, action, and unforgettable characters, this is definitely one you’ll want to add to your TBR.Tropes: enemies to lovers, found family, secrets, second chances, morally gray characters, betrayals
