설명

3 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️“𝑫𝒆𝒂𝒕𝒉 𝒘𝒂𝒔 𝒂 𝒗𝒂𝒈𝒖𝒆 𝒊𝒅𝒆𝒂; 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑷𝒆𝒕 𝑺𝒆𝒎𝒂𝒕𝒂𝒓𝒚 𝒘𝒂𝒔 𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒍.”𝑴𝒚 𝑻𝒉𝒐𝒖𝒈𝒉𝒕𝒔 Pet Sematary is more unsettling and creepy than typical jump-scare horror.Written in third-person POV, the book follows Louis Creed and his family as they move to a beautiful countryside home. It starts off with a mysterious vibe, and as the story progresses, things slowly get strange.Slowly but steadily, the eeriness starts to creep in. After a point, some very unsettling moments involving Church (the cat) made me genuinely uncomfortable. They stayed with me even after finishing the book and actually made me look at animals a little differently in real life 😥The characters were fine, but nothing really stood out. Still, the internal conflict and the way their relationships were tested added some depth, especially through Ellie’s attachment and her fear of losing what she loves. The representation of grief—the desperation and the love attached—came through really well. But I felt that the pacing was uneven—only the last 10% was eventful. Until then, it was a veryy slow build-up, which made me lose interest, and I ended up skimming a lot of parts just to get to the point. Plus, a lot of extra, sometimes unrelated information was thrown in, making it difficult to stay engaged. With an interesting and eventful ending, this was a decent read. If you’re looking for adrenaline-inducing horror, this might not be it. But it does have that unsettling, creepy aspect—especially Church. Can’t forget that… ever.𝑻𝑳;𝑫𝑹Overall, this is a slow-burn, unsettling horror more about creeping discomfort and grief than jumpscares. It has strong emotional moments and some eerie scenes. But the pacing is uneven and even though the ending is good, getting there feels a bit long. A decent read if you like atmospheric horror, not if you want fast-paced scares.Find more on Ruminative Bibliophile.
