A Really good book, Natasha Preston is one of my all-time favorite authors. I loved how this book was seemingly just about being kidnapped by some weirdo. But if you dig into it deeper, I feel that it hits the reality of social norms pushed onto women from an early age.
I feel that the obsessiveness of Clovers character can almost be similar to the perfection parents, society, or religion push people into. The consuming guilt for not having done something properly and the potential repercussions they may have.
While I'm unsure if the author was going for an undertone hinting at something we see in history and even modern society, or if it was just a really good phycological thriller book. Either way It was a phenomenal book I still think about after having read it months ago.
