설명

In a world where fashion reigns supreme, the protagonist finds herself thrust into the demanding realm of high-profile magazine publishing. With dreams of breaking into journalism, she takes a job as an assistant to one of the industry's most formidable editors. Her boss is not just powerful; she is infamous for her relentless drive and an unwavering perfectionist attitude, which sends shockwaves through the office and leaves employees quaking in their stilettos.

As the protagonist navigates the cutthroat environment of fashion, she quickly learns that meeting her boss’s high expectations comes at a steep price. Her personal life begins to fragment as she finds her friendships and romantic relationships tested by the demands of her job. The glamorous world of runway shows and elite events quickly turns into a whirlwind of chaos and compromise, forcing her to reevaluate what success truly means.

Each day brings new challenges that push her limits, revealing the stark contrast between the world of fashion and her once-simple aspirations. The allure of prestige and the fashion elite entices her, even as it threatens to consume her identity. As she grapples with these competing pressures, she must decide if the high heels and beautiful clothes are worth the price of her happiness.

This gripping tale dives into the heart of ambition, friendship, and self-discovery, painting a vivid portrait of a young woman caught in the whirlwind of a life she never anticipated. The vibrant characters and sharp humor invite readers to experience the intoxicating highs and devastating lows of working in an industry obsessed with image and success.

I loved the 2006 movie so much that I'd planned on reading the Prada series for ages. I had high hopes as well because again, the movie was so good - and the book is always better, right? In the case of The Devil Wears Prada, I feel that this isn't the case. I was extremely disappointed with the story and what was somewhat naivety and innocence initially quickly becomes a dismissal of anyone who takes the role within 'Runway' magazine and the fashion industry as a whole which grated on my nerves. I'm trying of course not to compare the two, but in the movie, Andrea isn't bitchy towards those who actively help her - but it's shown time and again throughout the book and I found myself wishing that Miranda Priestly would fire the young assistant and put us all out of our misery. Andrea continues to berate Priestly behind her back for actually wanting her assistant to do

I really enjoyed the movie and felt like it humanized Miranda in a way that this book did not. I understand the intention of the author and think this book is enjoyable if you have never seen the movie.
