설명
And the fate of the world rests in the hands of a grieving girl who never asked to be chosen.
Still reeling from the deaths of her father and brother, Ary Gold survives only by sheer will in the icy wilds of the North. But when friends arrive with stories of long-lost magic and a power buried in her newly discovered royal blood, Ary is thrust into a fate far larger than her sorrow.
The realm of Nyrida is under threat. An ancient shadow wielder is determined to claim Ary’s power and plunge the world into corrupted darkness. To stop him, Ary must marry the commander she’s been promised to—a man whose army could help them win the war—and train to fight alongside him.
But her fiercest challenge may not be on the battlefield.
Assigned to shape her into a warrior is a man cloaked in violence and secrets. Cold, commanding, and maddeningly unreadable, he isn’t her betrothed… but he may be her undoing. As sparks fly and loyalties are tested, Ary must decide whether to follow the path laid out for her—or risk everything for a love as wild and dangerous as the power awakening inside her.

모두 보기3⭐ book 📖 2⭐ audiobook 🎧It's not a terrible book. The audiobook was "entertaining" and a very light listen, but not really for me.I'm not a big fan of dual narration - the male narrator's voice felt very robotic. I didn't feel carried away by his acting, I'm afraid. I always struggle to take the MMC seriously when it's clearly a woman doing the voice, so I can't tell if that's what made me cringe every time he spoke, or if his character is just cringey per se.He's overly protective and possessive with no real explanation - or better, it's sort of clear from the beginning why, but he still comes across as toxic. And in fictional characters I'm usually all for a possessive man... him, though, felt a bit too much for no apparent reason. That said, I have to praise his restraint. He is a very strong-willed MMC - not giving in to his own desires. As for the FMC... where to begin?! She is a 19-year-old woman, abandoned by her mother, with limited means, and no memory of her past - so we discover the world alongside her. Which, honestly, frustrated me, because at the 80% mark we still know very little about the world-building, the magic, her past, or what's to come. One day, she welcomes home her dear friend, accompanied by four strangers who tell her who she supposedly is and what her destiny holds - and for that reason, she must travel with them. And what does she do? She just... accepts it. Accepts the responsibility, accepts that reality and that destiny, without even thinking about it too much. (I was like "Really? That easily?")Other than a few predictable revelations at the end, the plot barely moves. So will I keep reading this series? It's planned as a 5-book series, and I'm willing to give The Incendiary a shot at redemption.Audiobook provided by #RBmedia via #NetGalley
I didn't fall in love with this unfortunately... the writing was good, but I just hated all the characters. I also can't stand when the MMC lies to the FMC. and for seemingly no reason? the fact that after Ella snuck away, Smyth said he screwed up by telling her he had a wife, NOT because he completely lied to her about everything?? I'm sorry I can't support that. Ella pissed me off, Smyth pissed me off, Gemma pissed me off. almost every character
Omg!!I loved this book sooo much, more than 5 stars!! I need the sequel on my desk right NOW!!
