설명
A book of one-, and three-frame cartoons.
"Somebody at Country Life must have had one too many gins when they asked me to write a forward to this collection of Annie Tempest’s irreverent jottings depicting our family life here at Tottering-by-Gently. I’m completely illiterate these days, but here goes.
My husband’s family were Norman immigrants in the twelfth century, making us the twenty-ninth generation of Tottering folk. Dicky grew up here at Tottering-by-Gently when they had seventeen resident servants to tend their every whim. Nowadays we scrape by with Mrs Shagpile and myself. Honjon, our only son and heir descends on us periodically with a carload of filthy washing for me, and Serena, our daughter, visits at weekends with our darling grandson, Freddy.
We chose Annie Tempest as our ‘cartoonographer’ mainly because she laughs at Dicky’s awful jokes. She introduced us to Country Life three years ago at the Annual Clay Pigeon Protection Society dinner and we’ve been in cahoots ever since.
I hope you enjoy our little tome.
Yours,
Daffy T
Lady Tottering"
