Sorry not sorry :((This book had so much potential!! But oh my lord the pacing was AWFUL. One time I'm intrigued and the next it's a snooze fest. I simply didn't care about the main character or her possibly love triangle? Either way, I didn't care about either of them. The only good thing preventing it from being a 1⭐ are the side characters and their romance. IT WAS SO MUCH BETTER. I'm sure that if it wasn't as slow, I would have liked it. I swear I'm not a hater, I see why it's for some people 😭

Since I have not picked up the author’s previous books in the past, I will admit I was a little hesitant when it finally came to picking this one up.However, as I made my way through this book at a rapid speed, all those worries went out the window since I rated this book a full-fledged five stars in the end. The deeper I got into the plot, the more it had sucked me in.Do I think it is a groundbreaking plot? No, but that is not really how I choose to rate books these days. Now, I rate books purely on my enjoyment and how the plot kept me entertained. The plot for this story was indeed fast-paced and majority of the time, that is what I am looking for in a fantasy novel.Now, what about the subtle romance that we got in A Tempest of Tea? Well, that was barely there hence the subtle, so if you do plan on picking this one up thinking that is all you are going to get then you will be disappointed. Although, I do have a feeling that will possibly be explored a little more in the next book, A Steeping of Blood, since that is said to be the conclusion, but we’ll just have to wait and see.Overall, as someone who generally adores all types of vampire stories, I actually am impressed with this one and had a fun time while reading it.Will I be picking up the sequel when it is released? Yes, I need to see where the characters end up in the conclusion. Romantically or not.
