설명

Among the debut authors I've read so far in 2013, I'd say Lindsay Ribar is pretty high on the list, despite my three star rating. The writing was strong and the plot was new and interesting, but about two thirds of the way through the book got pretty boring, which is the reason for the three stars. If it stayed strong it would definitely have gotten four, but I felt like it trailed off into random nothingness. The characters were pretty well thought out. They weren't overly unique, but I felt some connection with them and I didn't see any crazy cliches. The relationship between Oliver and Margo was also very good - the fights they had actually made sense, verses most of the fights we see today that are obviously just the authors wanting their characters to fight but having no idea what it will be about. I felt like they took a good amount of time to start liking each other, but after they started dating they "fell in love" way too fast. The plot started out really strong. There wasn't too much mystery about what Oliver was, and that was refreshing because it you know anything at all about the book it's that he's a genie. That's something that drives me crazy about most YA books - the heroine takes forever to find out what her man is. Overall, it was a pretty good book, but faded out in the end. I would certainly recommend it, though.
