Recensies

This review will be slightly different to what I normally do because I will be splitting the book in half and that will make sense when you read it.Overall rating 2.5The first chapter of this book was phenomenal. It had me emotional and invested in the character of Miko. I thought his path was obvious. what proceeded for the next 17 chapters can only be described as an absolute joke! The plot for Miko's character was wrong on so many levels. I was expecting him to work for the Braterstwo then take them down from the inside. To find out he grows to respect them and becomes the main guy was an insult to the very first chapter that I loved so much.I was so close to DNFing this book. That I said I will take each chapter as it comes and if it doesn't improve after a few chapters I would have said no.Now while the last 10 or so chapters were much better they didn't make up for the first half so in my opinion. the first half of this book is like a 1.5 but the last half is like a 2.5. So I gave it a 2.5.I may update this section after I continue the series as to whether reading this book is necessary but as of right now I would not recommend this book but that is of course my own personal opinion.

I enjoyed the nods to Beauty and the Beast in this one. It was fun. Nessa and Miko just work so well together that it's enthralling.Jonas pretty much did what I predicted he would by the end. I didn't see him just sitting by. But I found it amusing that he still lost, even with his advantage.I feel bad for Sebastian even more after this book. After the altercation with Jack in the first book, the future he had planned is very likely gone. And it's clear he's pretty much given that life up. In the beginning, he was dedicated to not getting involved with his family's "work" but after his injury, it's clear he is no longer keeping to that, proved by his actions in this book. But he will get his happy ending and I can't wait to read it.Miko and Nessa, in my opinion, wasn't as entertaining as Callum and Aida were, and clearly still are from their appearances in this book, but I did like them. Their pull started with confused hatred, Miko thinking he was drawn to her because he hated her family after what happened to his father. Unsure if this is really how it went or just how he saw the events after he'd succumbed to his feelings, but still. Although, he was extremely stern about no one going near her and not letting Jonas touch her after she had been brought to Miko's home. So it is a possibility. This book sits on the same line as Beauty and the Beast. Both have elements of Stockholm Syndrome and in both, the "Beast" lets "Beauty" go, only for her to rush back and save him. My only real knowledge of Beauty and the Beast comes from the Disney movies but the moments match up between the two.I will say, between Brutal Prince and Stolen Heir, I liked the illustrations in Stolen Heir better. I'm not sure why, they just appealed to me more. The next couple is Camille and Nero. Considering Nero is still my favorite character, I'm looking forward to his storyline. I have a feeling it's going to be fun. Here's hoping the chemistry between him and Camille will be enough to make them my favorite couple.
