Madeleine L'Engle's ground-breaking science fiction and fantasy classic, now a major motion picture. It was a dark and stormy night; Meg Murry, her small brother Charles Wallace, and her mother had come down to the kitchen for a midnight snack when they were upset by the arrival of a most disturbing stranger. "Wild nights are my glory," the unearthly stranger told them. "I just got caught in a downdraft and blown off course. Let me sit down for a moment, and then I'll be on my way. Speaking of ways, by the way, there is such a thing as a tesseract." A tesseract (in case the reader doesn't know) is a wrinkle in time. To tell more would rob the reader of the enjoyment of Miss L'Engle's unusual book.

I didn't like this book. Unfortunately I just was in and out of reading this book. There were so many times when I was reading and then realized that I read a whole chapter or passage without actually reading or taking in anything I just read. Instead of rereading it I just kept going. The whole fantasy involvement in this book and time traveling and the need to find her father and her brothers like all of that was good. It was a good plot. It definitely could have been a good book that I could have definitely gotten into but for some reason I just continuously kept finding myself not actually paying attention to what I was reading and for that alone I just have to bring this but two out of five like it's just not a book for me.

I am always a little cautious when starting a graphic novel based on another book. I am always a little afraid that the depictions in the graphic novel will change the memories I have of the original book. But Hope Larson did not disappoint here! She worked very hard to incorporate every detail she could so that the overall themes and relationships in the original novel would not be changed. Personally, I felt that the art was very similar to how I envisioned the characters and setting while reading the original novel. For other readers, this may not be the case but it is still interesting to see how your visions are different than those portrayed in this graphic novel. Nonetheless, this is my recommendation. Read the original novel beginning to end, wait a few days, and then read this graphic novel. You will not be disappointed!!
